We Work Together to Help Yancey County

We propose to help alleviate the problem of child poverty in this county. To that end, we are making donations to local programs that provide food, clothing and shelter to those children in need.

what do we do?

Our non-profit focuses on alleviating child poverty in Yancy County. This we do in several ways.

food and clothing

Our donations go to Feed-A-Child for food, to local schools for coats, leggings, shoes and eyeglasses, just to name a few.

Rebuilding from helene

MMCF has made several major donations to Rebuilding Hollers, Pillars and United Carolina Cavalry in putting people back in their homes.

working with local farmers

MMCF is helping local farmers re-integrate nutrients back into local soil devastated by hurricane Helene

1. No Director will receive any compensation.
2. There will be no paid employees.
3. This is a strictly volunteer organization.
4. Except for printing and mailing costs, 100% of all funds collected will go to help the kids of Yancey County.

A retired business owner from Charlotte and a 25 year property owner in the Mt Mitchell community. He also sits on the board of the Appalachian Therapeutic Riding Center a nonprofit organization serving children of special needs. Don and his wife Lesly of 55 years have 3 children and 5 grandchildren.

William P. Morgan, Jr. graduate of Wake Forest University. He is a member of the International Association of Registered Financial Consultants, the Financial Planning Association, the National Association of Philanthropic Planners, and the National Ethics Bureau.

Retired IT Professional and business owner. Spouse Katherine, 2 children, 2 grandchildren.

Heather was born and raised in the Burnsville area as were her parents and grandparents along with her daughter, grandson and now 2 Great Grandchildren.

Sheryl Marinelli

Sheryl is a retired family therapist who wants to make a difference in our Mt Mitchell community and help those less fortunate, especially children.

Larry Thompson

Retired Baptist minister. Served for 46 years as the senior pastor of the First Baptist Church of Fort Lauderdale.
